Self-representation support · Portland, Oregon

Your case.
Your voice.

Practical, nonlawyer support for people doing their own legal work— because access to justice should not depend on the size of your legal budget.

Position / 001

The system rewards repeat players. We help ordinary people build the clarity, records and process discipline to participate on their own terms.

01Why we exist

Procedure should be a path—not a weapon of attrition.

Justice cannot belong only to those who can afford endurance.

Corporations, insurers, institutions and government agencies return to the system again and again. They know its vocabulary, deadlines and pressure points. Most individuals arrive once, under stress, carrying a box of facts and no map.

We believe people should represent themselves when the stakes and complexity make that responsible—and should have access to organized, affordable support while they do it. Self-representation is not second-class participation. It should be a viable path.

02What we can do

Build the record.
Master the process.

The scope is deliberately practical. You remain the decision-maker, author and representative. We make the work more navigable, legible and controlled.

Referral & handoff

Know when independent support is no longer enough.

  • Resource matching by location and subject
  • Licensed-paralegal and lawyer directories
  • Concise case file for a professional handoff
  • Consultation question and document checklist
  • Limited-scope representation search support

Available scope depends on the task, jurisdiction and current licensing rules. We confirm the boundary before accepting work.

03The bright line

Not a law firm

Support is not representation.

Oregon restricts practicing law to active Bar licensees and specifically warns that selecting or drafting legal documents, advising about rights, and appearing for others may be unlawful practice. We stay on the nonlawyer side.

  • 01We do not select legal claims, defenses, forms or remedies for you.
  • 02We do not draft legal arguments or tell you what facts or language to use.
  • 03We do not interpret law for your situation or predict what a court will do.
  • 04We do not appear in court, negotiate, contact an opponent as your advocate or sign for you.
  • 05We do not hold ourselves out as lawyers or Oregon-licensed paralegals.
  • 06We do not accept work when the requested task would cross the licensing line.

04A responsible choice

Self-represent when possible. Escalate when necessary.

Keep ownership.
Buy judgment selectively.

Full representation is not the only model. Many people can own their case while purchasing a focused consultation, document review or limited appearance from a lawyer or Oregon-licensed paralegal at the point it matters most.

Good self-help territory
  • The process is expressly designed for self-represented users
  • The facts are documentable and the stakes are manageable
  • You can read instructions, track dates and devote the time
  • You are comfortable remaining the sole decision-maker
Consider limited-scope help
  • You need a licensed review at one decisive stage
  • You can do production but need legal judgment
  • A hearing or negotiation needs professional preparation
  • You want cost control without going entirely alone

Directory reviewed August 2026. Provider details change; verify before relying on them.

No affiliation, partnership, endorsement or referral relationship is implied. Each provider sets its own financial, geographic, subject-matter and capacity limits. Submitting an intake, question or complaint generally does not create an attorney-client relationship or stop a filing, appeal, hearing or limitations deadline.
